Sense of Art
My second piece of acrylic painting.
May 29, 2010
This is what I've achieved after 6 sessions, i.e. approximately 24 hrs, in ARTTRA, my favorite art-jamming studio.
With reference to East Riddle Hall by LadyCrafthole which I came across on Flickr (pls click on the names to see the original and the author).
Estimated finish time: at least 8 more hrs.
I've developed this vast interest in painting since when? More than half year ago? Well, I guess I've got a little talent in this *giggle*, thanks to my mom who let me read lots of colorful neat board books (esp. the Ladybirds series) when I was still a small kid. But my talent in this has never been fully-explored since I've somehow chosen piano over painting (and I'm really sad to realise that I didn't play the piano that well afterall).
All these years I tried to express myself and how I see the world through photographs. And luckily, my 20 years of experience in photography actually helps me pick up painting quick -- with my understanding in colors, highlights and shadows, dimension and proportion, and also a stable hand. But tell you what, even if you're extremely talented, if don't know the skills, you'll have to bring your talent along to the grave one day.
Therefore I deeply appreciate what my "mentor" Herman (one of the owner of ARTTRA) did for me and for us. We've never formally paid him to teach us paint, so actually we aren't his students. But he's never hesitated to guide us and always explains to us clearly what we can do to make our paintings look better.
What I enjoy most in painting is that during the whole process of creating your work, you really need to concentrate, and with that concentration, you can actually achieve a state of peace of mind. I always wish that the 4-hr session will never end. And believe it or not, I even learnt some lessons through how to painting -- you can always try to solve your problem or look at things at different ways. Don't just see it on the surface. Sometimes you can try the other way round.

I KNEW you have talent of art before I read this blog. You are using another medium to tell others your stories. Be a all-around artist!
Thx Connie thx for your encouragement.
Deeply appreciated for understanding what I’m trying to do.
